Goats on a Ranch in Boerne TX

 

The reference photo for this 11 x 14 watercolor was taken several years ago when we visited Boerne TX for our nephew’s wedding. The bride’s  family lived on a ranch near Boerne in Texas Hill Country NW of San Antonio. It was beautiful country but had been experiencing drought at the time causing the family to sell their cattle and turn to raising goats. Sometimes, immigrants tried to cross the river near this farm to enter our country. I took several pictures of the goats. This is the one that I chose for painting. 

Late-blooming Clematis

 

Our clematis didn’t bloom much at all this summer. Now, that fall is almost here, a few blooms have appeared. This is a 9 x 12 (11 x 14 when matted) watercolor painting.

A 1900’s Picture from the Martin Farm

 

This watercolor painting is taken from an old scrap book of my husband’s paternal grandparents dating in the 1900’s. We aren’t sure why they fed the chickens in the yard in front of the house. This could be Don’s Aunt Laura, his mother’s sister. the painting is 11 x 14.

A Couple Watercolor Chickens

 

Today I decided to paint a couple chickens in watercolor. They are on a 9 x 12 watercolor paper that can fit into an 11 x 14 frame when matted.

Just started from scratch today and ended up with this. The painting is 9x12 done in watercolor.

Angel’s Trumpet

 

This is my attempt at painting Angel’s Trumpet. The painting is taken from a reference photo taken at St. Michael’s Church in Carlisle, OH back in 2019. My art teacher, Judy McKee and I drove there that day and ran into fellow retired teacher, Bill Dimmerling, who I would guess helps care for the flowers. This is done in watercolor and is 11 x 14 inches in size.

Kitty in Our Yard

 

This morning as I looked out of the window I saw this kitty going along the grass near the woods. It appeared to be looking intently for a mouse. So, I took my camera and caught it as it moved along. This is an 11 x 14 watercolor.

This painting of a farmer riding on a disc behind his team of horses was taken from a picture in an old album from my husband, Don’s, mother’s family, the Martins. The painting is 11 x 14 done in watercolor.

Wild Cherry Branch

 

The other day my cousin came for a day’s visit. After our nice day, when she was leaving, she found this branch stuck on her car. She asked me to discard it. I looked at it and thought it would make a nice practice painting piece. This is a 9 x 12 watercolor of a cherry branch.

My daughter took a picture of this rooster at the Ohio State Fair and shared it with me. This is the painting I did in watercolor in size 9x12. 

The Munching Bunny by Our House

 

This bunny must live in the wooded area on the North side of our house for hardly a day passes that I am not able to watch him/her nibbling grass out our living room window. I kind of feel like I know him/her! Ha! This pictures is a 9x12 watercolor.

Some Pansies from Our Friends

 

This spring some friends came for dinner and brought us a pot of pansies. I just got around to painting them. This painting is 11 x 14 in watercolor.

Our Neighbors’ Gorgeous Garden

 

This is a watercolor painting of our neighbors’ gorgeous garden. We enjoyed some delicious cucumbers that they gave us from this garden   for dinner tonight. The painting is size 11 x 14. Painted with the best professional watercolor paint. 

A Flower in the Time of Storm

 A major storm hit our area and extensive flooding caused damage and problems for many people in the area. We spent an hour in the basement because of the constant tornado warnings. As I usually do, to keep calm, I paint. I thought of the song “A Shelter in the Time of Storm” (the shelter is Jesus) but for me on this day this painting was “A Flower in the Time of Storm.” It’s painted with my new Winsor and Newton Professional Watercolors. The size is 9 x 12. Matted it can be 11 x 14. The painting is from some flowers my daughter and granddaughters gave to me.

Playing Around with Watercolor

 

This is a 9 x 12 that can fit in an 11 x 14 frame when matted. The picture is a result of just playing around with some watercolor on a Sunday afternoon. Watercolor is so much fun!

Champion Tractor Puller

 Our friend, Greg Duff, loves participating in tractor pulls and is quite successful at pulling. This is a picture of his Farmall tractor with Greg seated during a contest. The picture is watercolor in size 11 x 14. 

Cat in the Woods by Our Yard

 

Out the window I saw this cat in the woods appearing to be hunting. I learned that it is Tilly, our neighbors’ cat. This is an 11 x 14 watercolor.

Rabbit in Our Yard

 

This rabbit was in our yard nibbling on grass one evening when I was able to capture it on my camera. It’s identity is Eastern Cottontail. This is an 11 x 14 watercolor painting. SOLD

Blue Bird in Our Yard

 

This guy spent several weeks knocking into my kitchen window until we put the screen in it. Then the bird proceeded to build a nest right by the kitchen window in the spouting. A rubber snake didn’t scare it so the nest is there. The bird thought I wasn’t looking when I took this picture. It was sitting on top of the bell in our yard waiting for me to leave so it could put another straw in the nest. The picture is an 11 x 14 watercolor. It is SOLD.
